WELCOME TO ARTIST DAVE ARCHER'S PERSONAL WEBSITE
Welcome one and all from Dave Archer. For over a decade this website was devoted specifically to the presentation of my million volt electric space-art on glass. Nothing has changed in that respect, as that endeavor continues with passion, expanding even into Sponsorship of J. P. Aerospace (see below) and more. Also, my site is expanding in every direction of my artistic interest, adding archival photographs over my life and career, plus other art-works --- many under my original name of David Nelson --- plus songs, poems, and Writings.
For fans, collectors, and friends who have faithfully followed my glass painting space-art career, some of you for three decades, you may be surprised here, since much of this material has never been seen. Around age ten I spent untold hours at my bedroom desk, clunking out stories on an antique typewriter that must have weighed half as much as a Volkswagen. Everyone said I should be a writer, so I became a painter. I still write obviously, and I still work in other ways than reverse glass, i.e., acrylic, oils, watercolor, and ink, on various materials including canvas, paper and wood. The fact is, I have finally reached that blessed state known to the aging as: NO MORE B.S. I hope you enjoy this more well "rounded" view of myself and my work.
For those of you new to my high voltage space-art, some words for you concerning (that) ongoing obsession. Known as "reverse glass," or "verso" painting, these works are partially accomplished using millions of volts of electricity as a "paint brush". Begun in 1970, as a joint endeavor with artist Ron Russell, glass painting remains of course, my most well known work. Russell was my teacher of glass painting, the finest friend and mentor I ever knew, and the man who coached me through the most difficult time of my life, a Story All Its Own.

Today I am proud to have shared my million volt painting technique on over two hundred television shows, including, "Eye To Eye With Connie Chung," "Beyond 2000," as well as Discovery Channel's, "The Next Step" and "World's of Wonder". Also, featured on "Star Trek®," decorating the Enterprise set on, "The Next Generation" television show, as well as the movies, "Star Trek® VI - The Undiscovered Country," and "Star Trek® Generations".
Additionally, and among others, my work was featured in both Omni, and National Geographic Magazines, and on many Book Covers. I have even enjoyed appearing in the Sunday funnies in Ripley's Believe It Or Not.
Feathers in my cap include, "Gallery And Museum Shows," around the globe, including the world headquarters of AT&T on Madison Avenue in New York City, and the Hayden Planetarium in Central Park in New York.
My Electric Machines and painting techniques are unique in the world, with each coil designed, and fabricated by renowned electrical engineering genius Bill Wysock, of Hollywood special effects fame. Working with hand-held wands, I manipulate high voltage arcs --- from a few inches in length to nine feet --- using that raw power to influence wet paint on sheets of glass, thus achieving space-cloud impressions. Later, planets, comets, etc., are completed by hand, using dozens of both common and invented art techniques.
